Belgium worries about its post-Brexit aid envelope

GThere is a big fight between Member States in the Council of the European Union and between MEPs in the European Parliament, over the European budget of five billion intended to support countries after the economic Brexit.

Given the magnitude of the shock, due to our links and our proximity to the United Kingdom, Belgium should be the third beneficiary of these European funds (305 million euros), if we compare the amount to the size economy. This was the Commission’s initial proposal, now to be negotiated with Parliament and Council.

Problem: in the internal negotiations in the Council, according to our information, the French, Spanish, Italian and, to a lesser extent, Greek and Romanian delegations question the allocation key of the envelope.
