“From November 1st to April 15th, winter tires must be fitted on all wheels in winter road conditions, ie snow, mud or ice,” explains ÖAMTC lawyer Alexander Letziki. This rule applies not only to cars and small trucks up to 3.5 tons, but also to “moped cars”. Drivers should regularly follow the weather reports. Simple road wetness, for example, can turn into black ice when the temperature drops and then winter tires are mandatory.
