How to deal with dry hair and scalp

Whether you have a dry, itchy scalp or dry, static-filled hair, you’re looking for a way to consistently moisturize your hair. There are all kinds of ways to solve the problem. Here are a few:

  • Choose the right shampoo for your hair. If you have scalp problems, get a dry scalp shampoo. If it’s your hair that needs a little extra moisture, be sure to give it to it when you wash it. Don’t wash your hair too much. If it’s drying out, try switching to every other day or every other day. Some people like to wash with conditioner alone, but if your hair is still dry with that, even water can be the cause of your dry skin and hair.
  • Do not brush your hair too hard or try to solve your itching problems by scratching with the brush. This can further irritate the scalp and aggravate the problem.
  • If you can avoid using some of your hair products, do so. The chemicals in hairsprays, gels, mousses, and pomades can dry out your scalp and hair. Try using a deep conditioning treatment or hot oil treatment, but try to use products with natural ingredients and few chemicals if you want to get rid of dryness.
  • Avoid styling with heat whenever you can. If you can avoid blow-drying or drying your hair on a cold setting, it will help your scalp. Avoid using curling irons or flat irons whenever possible, as heat is damaging and will dry out your hair. If you must straighten or curl it, use a protecting serum on your hair to minimize damage.
  • There are professional scalp treatments you can use if simply changing your clothes isn’t enough. Vinegar is also a good, albeit smelly, option for your scalp.
