What kitchen plumbing involves
The kitchen is equipped with pipes that supply clean water and other pipes that remove sewage. There may also be pipes that supply gas to the kitchen, and the gas valve is usually located on the floor or on the wall. Hot and cold water valves are usually located under the sink. From the valves, the supply pipes are connected to the tap.
A poppet valve can be connected to the cold water valve to provide additional water connections that supply water to appliances such as a water filter. Additional connections can be made of plastic or copper tubes. The gas valve is normally located under the appliances that use gas, and you can close it when the gas is not in use for safety reasons.

The pipes under the kitchen sink are normally curved and are known as P-traps. Compression fittings connect these curved pipes to the sink drain pipe, and sometimes you can unscrew these fittings without the help of no tool. When replacing kitchen sink pipes, the plumber must carefully take the measurements of the pipes so that the new pipes can be cut correctly.
Water valves close to shut off the water supply to the sink when repair work is in progress. P-trap connections are unscrewed from the sink tailpieces by hand or with pliers. The siphons of the connections are removed and the drain tails are also removed. New tail pieces are bolted on and new tubes are cut and clamped in place with compression fittings by hand.
Other repairs required in the kitchen
There are many valves found in the kitchen that are prone to leaks. Faucets used in the kitchen are also prone to leaks and require repairs from time to time. The dishwasher may not work properly if the water supply lines and drain lines are not working properly. Kitchen drains can become clogged and may require drain cleaning. The garbage disposal can become clogged if too much garbage is placed in it and will require repairs.
Maintenance of your kitchen plumbing
To keep your kitchen plumbing running smoothly, there are a few things you can do. First of all, you need to make sure that you do not pour fat and greasy substances into the kitchen sink. Instead of flowing down the drain, the grease sticks to the inside of the pipe and when it builds up, the drain becomes blocked. You also shouldn’t throw food scraps that are difficult to grind down the garbage disposal.
