Valentine’s Day: 5 Tips for Planning the Perfect Valentine’s Day

Get the holiday season off to a good start by planning your Valentine a little more in advance than most people. By doing this, you will save valuable time and money.

one. Set aside time when you know you won’t be distracted or have other obligations to attend to. This may mean getting up an hour earlier or staying up later. On a workday you might take your lunch to the car one day and eat and plan alone. Remember we are only doing this Valentine’s Day planning once. It’s not like it’s a daily occurrence!

two. Go ahead and plan the perfect Valentine’s Day. If you wake up at 5 a.m., make a nice cup of a hot drink that you can sip while you plan. Also put on some quiet music if possible. Think about why you love your boy. What has he done to make your life special and more enjoyable? Putting yourself in a positive and loving frame of mind will do wonders for your planning. You will feel more excited and creative, and this planning process will go well.

3. Come up with a list of the things your guy likes and dislikes. Then when you come up with ideas, you can quickly delete them if they get on the “dislike” side.

Four. Consider where you want to celebrate Valentine’s Day, what time of day it will be, how long it will be, and what the weather might be like. If you have children, you will have to wait until they go to bed and do something at home or find a babysitter so you can go out, or have the house to yourselves while you are away. Without children, that will make planning easier! Will you dine in a restaurant or at home on the patio or as an indoor picnic?

5. How is your budget? Do you feel a pinch? Then try something creative but inexpensive. Get out a pack of construction paper and some markers and cut out dozens, if not hundreds of hearts! In each one write something special, funny or romantic. Then toss them in your car or distribute them at your office. You will find them for weeks! If you have more leeway in your finances, buy some bags of chocolate and turn them into words or hearts around the house.
