The direct holy specs aren’t ideal for eg level or solo missions, but the “Punishment Specification” that starts out holy and then moves on to discipline is pretty good for the full game; If you want to be able to perform missions and heal yourself effectively, a Punishment specialization is good for you. Take the first few talents that improve Holy Damage and specifically Punishment damage and cast time, ending with Holy Reach and Searing Light, then move on to Discipline, take talents that further improve damage and durability, and gain talents from healing when unavailable. You’ll be great at both healing instances and solo leveling, though not nearly as good as focused specs.
Finally discipline. Since the shadow is for quests, Discipline is the best leveling specialization for the priest if you are focused on instances, with Discipline being the best instance healing specialization in the game. You must focus on mana efficiency and improve your shields; Power Word Shield is your best ‘healing’ spell as a Disc, so upgrade it as much as possible! You won’t have much potential for damage at first. You should also keep in mind that EVERY talent in the last four ‘levels’ of the tree is worth taking; Discipline late talents are universally good.
