Hello, Jean or Hygiene?

Hygiene, Hygiene!

(7 puppets are all in the playground, throwing a ball)

Puppet 1 – Doody: (YELLS ACROSS THE PLAYGROUND) HYGIENE, HYGIENE, HYGIENE!

Puppet 2 – Jean: Hey, Doody, why do you keep saying my name, Jean? I’m here.

Puppet 1 – Doody: Ha ha, I’m not saying your name, Jean, I’m saying HYGIENE.

Puppet 2 – Jean: I know, that’s my name, don’t spend it “hello, you too.”

1 – Doody (spells slowly): No, it’s not your name, H -Y- G- I- E- N- E.

2 – Jean: Ok, but what is H -Y- G-, how did you spell it again?

1 – Doody: (frustrated, speaks louder and spells it FASTER) – “HYGIENE”, HYGIENE!

Puppet 3, Puppet 4, Puppet 5, Puppet 6, and Puppet 7 stop playing ball and meet to join the discussion with Puppet 1 and Puppet 2.

P 3, P 4, P 5, P 6 and P 7 (Everyone asks at the same time) -What is hygiene?

Puppet 3 (smart Joe): I know, I know, it means brushing your teeth every day.

Puppet 4: (Serious Sam) No, no, it means washing your hands after going to the bathroom.

Puppet 5 (giggle box Betty): I thought it meant taking a bath every night as long as it had bubbles!

Puppet 6 (Smarty Bob): Excuse me, but you guys are wrong, it means you might have koodies.

Puppet 7 (gossip, tell Sally): Well, if you ask me, it’s probably a “dirty” word and we shouldn’t be saying. I’m telling you.

Puppet 1 (Doody) – Go ahead and tell her, Mrs. Tattle Tell, Sally. My mom told me the word and it’s not dirty. Actually, it is a VERY CLEAN WORD. She told me that it is important to have good hygiene if I want to have and keep friends.

Puppet 7 (gossipy to Sally): Oh well sorry, I won’t tell you anything if you tell us what else your mom said the word meant. I would like to have and keep friends.

ALL THE PUPPETS SHOUT: “Yeah Doody, tell us what your mom said the word meant.”

Puppet 1 (Doody): Well, some of you were right. Smart Joe, (puppet 3), what did you say?

Puppet 3 (Smart Joe says excitedly): Brush your teeth! (KEEP THE TOOTHBRUSH)

Puppet 1: Yes, and Serious Sam (puppet 4), what did you say?

Puppet 4 – Serious Sam – (say enthusiastically): Wash your hands! (HOLD HAND SOAP)

Puppet 1 (Doody): Yeah, and Giggly Betty, what did you say?

Puppet 5 (say while laughing): Bubble baths! (HOLD BOX OF BUBBLES OR BLOW BUBBLES)

Puppet 1 (Doody): And Smarty Bob, you were almost right, what did you say it was?

Puppet 6 (Smarty Bob): Ha, almost right, I said it meant “KOODIES”.

P 1 (Doody): Well GOOD HYGIENE doesn’t mean koodies, but it helps get rid of koodies! By brushing your teeth, washing your hands, and bathing, you can KILL GERMS in your mouth, on your hands, and all over your body.

P 2 (Jean): Oh, I think now I know why your mom said that good hygiene would help you have and keep friends. If you brush your teeth, you will have “minty” breath. If you wash your hands, your friends will share their food with you, and if you shower, YOU WILL NOT WEIGHT like Doody. Get it? It won’t get koodies or stink like “Doody.”

ALL THE PUPPETS START LAUGHING

Q 1 (Doody): Hey, isn’t that funny! Take it back, say you’re sorry.

P 2 (Jean): You know, I’m just kidding, Doody, you’re my friend. Now we better go back to class and wash our hands, it’s almost lunchtime.

EVERYONE IS SCREAMING “YES!” HYGIENE, HYGIENE, ALL GRAMS PER HYGIENE. I
