The low rates have consequences for the Win for Life of the National Lottery: in 2020, a winner costs more than 17 million euros

The profitability of the product launched in 1999 is declining, but there is no question of removing it.

Savers are not the only ones to suffer from low interest rates. This is also the case with the National Lottery, one of its flagship products, the Win for Life, is a life annuity product. In 2009, the cost for the Lottery to guarantee the lifetime annuity of the winners of the year was 9 million euros. In 2020, it was 17.7 million euros.
