Features and benefits of Skechers Shape Ups

You may have noticed that some people walk around in these weird looking shoes made by Skechers. They look like the old moon shoes of yore. Did you know that these people subtly work out just by wearing them all day? You may have some questions about how they work and what the features and benefits are. Here are a couple.

Unlocks the knees: Instead of standing on the heels and centering the weight on the arches, the knees are unlocked, which takes pressure off the knee joints and places the weight on the quads, hamstrings and calves, also relieving the Back pain.

Like walking on sand – this is a great analogy. The goal of walking on sand is to increase the use of the stabilizer muscles and make the muscles work more. Therefore, the goal of using Shape Ups is to make your body work harder using muscles that it doesn’t normally use.

Works With Templates – You can definitely add templates to your Shape Ups. The only concern would be that traditionally, people using insoles have significant pronation / supination issues. Due to the soft kinetic wedge and the instability of the shoe, the insoles do not have a solid platform to focus on. Some people may have exaggerated their pronation / supination problems too much. So, bring your templates to the store when you try the Shape Ups on.

Longevity: Shape Ups have approximately twice the life of a traditional pair of running shoes. The average running shoe lasts about 300 miles, or about three months if you run or walk 25 miles per week. The Skechers rep I spoke with said he once heard about a 240-pound guy who wore the Shape Ups for eight to ten hours a day, and needed to replace them after five months.
