Home Based Businesses and How to Choose the Best One for You

There are many types of home based businesses to choose from and more are opening every day. If you’re interested in starting your own business and doing all the setup, advertising, and all aspects of starting from scratch, this article may not be for you. For those of you looking for a turnkey operation, an on-site system where products are manufactured, packaged and ready to be sold and distributed, this article can help you find all the offerings available.

For most people it can be almost overwhelming to determine which company is right for them. Sales representatives from many companies will tell you why theirs is the right company for you without helping you decide if that particular company is right for you and your personal goals in starting your new home-based business.

There are so many options to choose from and all companies are NOT created equal, but it is up to you to decide if the company you are looking for is the right one for you. Some of the aspects of choosing the ideal company are: how long has the company been in business? What is your growth rate? Are they privately owned or publicly traded, who are the owners, the founders? What is your mission? What are the sales figures, in how many countries are the products of this company sold?

Aside from these company questions, there are several factors you need to consider in determining which specific company is right for you. If you ask yourself these three questions below, the company that best suits your goals and dreams may emerge.

Question One: Are you interested in A) becoming part of a team of people OR do you prefer to B) trust yourself and prefer to work mostly alone?

Answer A: If you answered computer, then you are more suitable for network marketing. This model pays you for your own work plus the work of your business partners, the team members you bring into the business, and your team members as well. Although there are many compensation plans that differ in many ways, one factor is the same in all of these models: the more your business grows, the more you get paid.

Answer B: If you answered mostly alone, a direct selling company is better for you. Your main source of income is in your personal sales. You can sponsor others in your company with you, but the pay structure is not set up for a BIG amount of money until you are VERY successful.

Question two: What products or services excite you? Where is your passion? Are you interested in health and nutrition, healthy living? How about skin care? What about the law? Sure?

Answer: Depending on your answer to this question, eliminate everything on your list that you think would be good just for the money. Look at the products, services, or mission statements of the companies you are researching. There are great companies out there that may not be the right one for you. It’s okay. That is why there are so many companies.

Question three: Who sponsors you makes a difference? Does the team matter?

Answer: The person who sponsors you into your new business will be someone who will spend time with you, either on the phone or in person, as your business grows. You must have a good relationship with that person. It will make your business growth more enjoyable.

There are a couple more questions to ask yourself after you’ve narrowed your search down to the company of your choice:

Are you looking to replace your full-time income, or is your plan more about supplementing what you’re already earning? Depending on what your dreams are, you’ll need to set goals, work with your sponsor, and focus on the task at hand to reach your goals.

How many hours do you plan to work at this new business venture? This question determines how quickly your paychecks will grow with this new company. The pay at any network marketing company only grows in direct proportion to the amount of time you spend on the activity that generates income.

There are ways to work smarter, rather than harder, but I’ll cover that later in another article. I hope this has helped you make some decisions about this exciting next phase of your life. Good luck! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you succeed in your new venture.

My goal is simply to help you succeed.
