Being my own boss is one of my biggest goals in my life. I have worked a few different jobs since I was 14 years old. I started my professional life in hospitality as a waitress, room service and hotel reservations. It was a path that I took even though I really wanted to travel and work in that industry.
I also had the dream of becoming an entrepreneur in the real estate market. I bought my first investment property at 22 and then got married at almost 25.
I left the hotel industry and got a job in taxes. I have worked in the same government position for 12 years. I have changed roles numerous times, I have been in quite a few departments and I am good at what I do. I learn something new every day; I learn and grow, from the people around me and from the work that presents me. I can’t complain though. These jobs have made me who I am today and I am grateful; But this life is not what I really wanted These jobs came to me, I followed the path and practically accepted every role.
I went through the ups and downs in my marital / personal life and had many struggles in many areas throughout my years until I finally had children and after writing my book.
It was my struggles that inspired me to write a book. It was something I WANTED to do and it was something I wanted to do to help others. I ENJOY HELPING PEOPLE!
My book gave me purpose and satisfaction. This path led me to compile another book and this path is not yet finished. I will continue to participate in this course, but it is the next part of my life that I have always dreamed of: starting my own business.
All I wanted to do was be my own boss, work from home, and take care of my children. No need to travel, just earn money to support my family and do the things I LOVE and really want in my life: FREEDOM!
I want a business so I can help other people, from my little laptop in my little office. And guess what … I dreamed it! One morning I woke up literate and told myself that I would become a VIRTUAL ASSISTANT.
After doing a bit of research on starting my own business and the kind of business I thought I could run, I decided to just jump in.
So now it’s me. I am a virtual assistant. I offer services to small businesses (and individuals) with administration and configuration and social media / email support.
So I tell you this. Follow your dreams, act and do what you love. You may not see the top of the mountain and it may take a little time to reach it, but life can take you many twists and turns, all for good reason and if you believe in yourself you will succeed.
I know I have a long way to go, but I know for the first time in my life that I am on the right track in my career. I look forward to all the new opportunities that come my way!
