Gafa tax: the European Union divided on the signal to give to the Americans

OWe will have waited three years since the first unsuccessful attempt, but patience will have paid off, since the European Commission is no longer considering one, but taxes on Internet companies.

It is finally badly put: faced with the failure of international negotiations on the deadline set last year because of the positions of the Trump administration, the member states had made him promise that it would arrive, at all costs, with a proposal for June of this year, in order to set up such a tax at European level. One way to show the Americans that they cannot forever postpone an international consensus without it being seen in the end. But also a way to finance the repayment of the European recovery, for which the EU will go into debt to the tune of 750 billion euros.
