ÖFB international match – the legionaries may be allowed to go to Glasgow after all

Austria’s national soccer team can possibly count on all the professionals involved in Germany in the opening game of the World Cup qualification on Thursday in Glasgow against Scotland. According to the Robert Koch Institute, Great Britain will no longer be considered a virus variant area from Sunday, but “only” an area with an increased risk of corona infection, as announced on Friday evening.

As a result, the ÖFB kickers do not need a 14-day quarantine when they return from Scotland to Germany, and the German clubs therefore lack the reason to refuse their players the national team trip. FIFA only exempts the clubs from the obligation to park if their players have to be quarantined for at least five days after international matches.

The ÖFB expects clarity on Saturday whether all 19 nominated German legionaries can actually come. The optimism is great. “The chance is now much higher,” said ÖFB managing director Bernhard Neuhold of the APA. (apa)
