Fukushima has left behind a titanic site

Unheard of in its scale, the Fukushima nuclear accident leaves behind a titanic project. Led by the operator Tepco, under the supervision of the authorities and the Japanese Minister of Industry, this work has recorded some progress over the past ten years, so far respecting the roadmap established to lead to good port dismantling and remediation of the site. The political will and the necessary resources are there. But, at best, this objective will take several more decades to materialize, explains Patrice François, expert at the French Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN).
